I can see a redeeming arc in lil miss arrogant " Psycho b1tch" toward MC now that she finally get it through her concrete head, how valuable MC truly is upon how he made her father restaurant a hot spot now. However its always the case with conniving weasel like arrogant jerks, in the post next episode scenes he knew he was definitely going lose face, and his precious gemstone light magic toward MC. That's why he wanted to injury him badly so he'd be a no show and that arrogant douche chef would win.

I dont know how they do it in China. But in most places I've been, the only time the head chef leaves the kitchen during business hours is if its on fire. Perhaps if the king or similar status personnel visit and ask for the chef directly. But not just because a high class regular is complaining.
